I’m on chapter 22 and I really want to give this a chance since the rating is so high and everyone loves it but I’m sorry, the mc annoys me so badly. Is this how it is the whole story? Or does it change or get better?

I gave this second chance because of the comments and once you get past chapter 30 something, it gets better. up until that point I wasn't into it and wanted to stop reading like every chapter^^"
