That’s valid but let’s be frl it could be so much worse (which it is in reality) most of the English royal family were inbred during this time it just feels historically accurate which I think the story line did very well and I think the fact they weren’t to eachother romantically but instead platonically was the perfect way to get rid of that issue but I do admit it could have been he got married to someone outside of their family but it’s likely a decision made by their families especially if she was sick when they married, her family gets tied to the royal family and their assets are shared with her family even after she dies.
When a lady of a noble family is born they are most of the time meant for marriage and connections since they can’t take over their family names/titles, they’re meant as a business deal essentially and her being suck and destined to die just means they need to get as much as possible out of the situation so they married her into the royal family (mind you even if they are cousins they often times won’t have access to the royal family especially if she was from the queens side instead of the king. Just a thought, I don’t think there is any way or reason to think it weird if it was strictly for business only so I just ignored it mostly because it is a work of fiction
