Yes, I decided to think that way too. Parallel stories and that's it. It also makes sense, because papa wolf looks the same age as when he found the potato.
Even though, parallel story, it still feels weird. Because he still raised him as a kid, in that timeline.

I just believe that they are two different universe like the author suggests
