let's not water down the meaning of "neglected" and "abused" she didn't let her study, have things her brothers got(exp. Egg on food) but never did she abuse the girl by hitting her or telling her harsh words about her body or things. The mother had a line and did not want the girl to go over that line. when she did the mother reacted with her safety mechanism because she thought that the girl was a psychopath. Never did she neglect her. She has said to the girl that she is not her mother (although a bit harsh since she feared the girl) but gave the girl her freedom in what she did, on the exception of not working at moonlight(?)

"cruel and violent treatment of a person or animal."
also I did not say to water down the meaning of abuse in neglect to break up what they mean but rather to not misuse words with powerful meanings.
as it "waters them down" making them less powerful for the people and as such not as important anymore.

but neglect is a form of abuse though… ahrin is a special case because she’s crazy but she might have grown up normally if her mother was actually present in her life and raised her and didn’t influence her brothers to also bully and ignore her when convenient.
how can you expect to be taken seriously when you vibe check a literal 6 year old and decide she’s a psychopath so therefore you neglect her for years and wonder why she actually turned out to be a psychopath. no therapy, no developmental help, didn’t even send her to public school to learn from “regular” children on how to act. i didn’t water down anything, you just want to feel bad for your favourite character without acknowledging she did anything wrong so you can feel like you’re supporting a “good person”
newsflash, no one is a good person in this story and that’s the point.

when you let blatant favouritism be flaunted in your face for years at your developmental years, that is neglect and emotional abuse. i’m not misusing shit bruh don’t use your dumb therapy speech on me when you don’t even know what it’s like growing up with parents who favour your siblings over you.

Girl bffr she did not give ahrin freedom, she simply did not care what she did and that’s literally neglect. How does a child activating her safety mechanism justify immediately tossing her away and pretending she doesn’t exist? Do me a favour and read the first chapters again and tell me she wasn’t fucked up for that. Ahrin doesn’t seem affected by it because she enjoys chasing people for the love of the game but if she were to tell the audience straight up that the way she was treated when she was younger made her feel hurt, we’d all feel wayyy more differently about the mom. And two things can be true at once, people can feel bad for her but also acknowledge she was not a good person. Personally, I support women’s right AND wrongs but i agree with op, some of yall act like she didn’t abuse a kid ┑( ̄Д ̄)┍

right? she essentially put ahrin in a fancy birdcage and people wanna call that “freedom”… people didn’t even know she existed as part of the family until she became an adult. she wasn’t allowed to go outside or interact with literally anyone but her housekeepers, father, and her brothers, but even her brothers were discouraged from being around her.

“ahrin listen closely, your father only brought you here because he took pity on you since… your mother abandoned you.”
“it must be because there’s something wrong with you right? you're just a burden to us, so no one really likes you. so it shouldn’t come as a shock that you will be treated differently from my beloved children.”
“all rights for rare moon’s group business’ are my sons, so i will never forgive you if you ever harm them. if you want to cry, just go ahead and do that, it’s only us two here. this room is soundproof anyway. at your age, there’s nothing else you can do but cry.”
you tell me, is this appropriate to say to a child? is this not emotional abuse? she was clearly fine with making a child cry, even emphasizing the room was sound proof so no one would come comfort or save her.

i wasn’t arguing who has or doesn’t have freedom, i was arguing that you can feel bad for anna without brushing past all the shit she put ahrin through as a child. it is not normal to treat a child like that, no matter how rich you or how oppressive your husband is. i can’t read the comments and pretend to agree she wasn’t a horrible person at the start of the story and only now has begun to be more relatable or sympathetic. her backstory and more development of her character leads us to feel more understanding of her, but that doesn’t mean she suddenly no wrong.

...good point but , but as her husband said it's not you who's gonna be taking care of them kids anyway, and it was the case for sihoon (hope I didn't get his name wrong) she only had eyes for her own kids and treated the other two politely/awkwardly (if arin wasn't a nutcase, but regardless), ngl tho anna was hella cruel to say those words to arin with her being only a child. Also a mother who feels wronged by her husband and takes it out on the kids (who did nothing wrong. Just exist) doesnt happen just to rich ppl, it also happens to poor children and i think its coz its normalized to hate the bastard child than to admit your husband is trash. Anywho when your dad is trash I believe it's an obligation from the mother to leave and protect her kids coz dudes don't give a fuck but surely like to fuck... honestly id take indifference at any time of my childhood than being whipped to the point of not being able to use my hand for forgetting to flush the toilet at 9 y/o.

i didn’t imply being poor meant it was more normalized, i meant that even though anna had housekeepers and the money necessary to give ahrin a “privileged” lifestyle, that doesn’t take away from her unnecessary cruelty towards ahrin. if they weren’t rich, anna’s indifference and clear favouritism would have led to neglect and neglect is a form of abuse. i’m not saying every case of parental indifference leads to abuse but with how hostile anna was towards ahrin, she definitely would have been neglected had it not been for the housekeepers. if you get my point though i’m satisfied with that.
i feel bad for the mom but let’s not forget she abused and neglected a child just because she found her vibe off yeah she needs to be free of her shitass husband but let’s not act she’s a saint here
