U gotta realise the ML has faced so much trauma in the past about people being sent to kill him so it's only right that he's that paranoid, and yes u can still hold him accountable for his actions but I don't think either of them need to really settle for eachother they're just gonna grow and accept eachother yk? That's how it goes in the novel (〜￣△￣)〜

and as the commenter above said, he's spent most of his life guarding against assassins, so i can see why he still holds his suspicions since he never knows what tactics the other factions (esp the royal family) will use against him (￣Д ￣) but really hope he starts trusting the MC more, given that MC's shown time and time again that he can be trusted
Yes exactly! He does start trusting the MC more btw and it's nice to see character development that takes place over time , I mean we haven't even given time for the ML to redempt himself yet and even see him taking small steps , so lets not complain (▰˘◡˘▰)
The ML is pissing me off so much. Either author turn him into adorable puppy that will do anything for Elliot or it will be another stupid cliche where ML is asshole and MC accepts this asshole behaviour.
