overall the novel contains heavy inspiration from swan lake and the story of the fairy and the woodcutter. it’s not really romance imo and both the fl/ml are messed up in their own ways but the ml is definitely a black flag.

She came when she was 19, and he was 22. She stayed in their world for five years until she got married at 24, and he was 27. ML's father summoned her to bear an heir. ML's background was also bleak. His relationship with his mother was filled with conflict and a desire for revenge because of his mother, the former duchess, who sacrificed herself and committed suicide to make their son, ML, a demon. Duke Albert loved his wife very much. He continued to carry out her will to make ML a demon so that his demonic lineage would continue. So he brought a swan to give birth to a demon, because humans from their world could only have children from two demons, swans only.

ML fell deeply in love with FL. They lived for five full years in pure love and dating.

At first, they quarreled and each other was rude. Then they began to get closer, exchange love, and go for walks in the park. He promised her that after their marriage, he would take her to see the outside world.

One day after Swanhild's birth, she didn't even look at his face or breastfeed him. She pretended to be sick. Thus, ML's father returned her clothes, and she fled and returned to her world. She returned at the exact same time she disappeared, 19 years ago. In the current timeline, ML is 38 years old, and Swanhild is 10 years old, meaning she disappeared for ten years. Her time, however, was different. She lived her life in Korea until 24, then she was summoned again. Duke Albert insisted on bringing her back to make ML suffer, just as he had suffered when his wife abandoned him. He also wanted to direct ML's anger at his son, Swanhild, just as he had done, but ML didn't. He quietly left him living in the palace, giving him no affection or parental love.

ENDING: When I say the ending is dark and gloomy, I really mean it. He cut the tendons in her feet and cast a spell so she could never walk again, only through the wheelchair. He forbade anyone from touching the wheelchair handle. Only he could move it. The forbidden room, which is the Duchess’s room, became her room, which became like a prison for her, and she rarely left it.
