no, you dpmo, it’s important to criticize harmful portrayals, but it’s unfair to assume every reader supports the abuse just because they engage with the story. stop shoving your projections onto people. it’s true that some stories handle these topics really badly and end up romanticizing abuse, which is messed up. but that still doesn’t mean readers automatically condone it just because they read it.

that’s a super simplistic take. by your logic, people who read murder mysteries must like murder, or people who read horror must like being killed. Fiction ≠ reality. people engage with dark themes for different reasons. sometimes to explore them in a safe context, sometimes just because it’s part of a story arc. liking a story that contains rape isn’t the same as liking rape itself. you can criticize the way a story portrays it, sure, but "ASSUMING" readers condone it is just shallow.
I'm not against liking stories that portray rape or have it im against those that fetishize it.
