I read the novel a bit, and this ghost is probably the most disgusting one they encounter. Even I can't imagine how the ghost looks like by that description alone. Like..... genuinely terrifying

I can’t explain everything perfectly, but I can at least talk about the ghost. But sorry if this is too long.

So as you can see, the ghost is upside down. The FL said she didn’t expect to see the same type of ghost from her homeland (Korea) showing up here. So in Korea, this ghost is called a virgin ghost, also called a Kong-Kong Ghost because of the kong kong sound it makes when it moves. Since it walks on its head, it kind of hops around, which is why it makes that noise.

That’s why, when the FL discovered the ghost in the mansion, she noted the strange fluids (not just blood) leaking from its head. I don’t remember the exact wording the novel used, but the description was vivid enough that all I retained was how disgusting it was.

You saw it in previous chapter that this ghost seems to be following that suspicious nobleman who’s known for going after young girls and cheating around. I think it was implied that he even caused multiple women’s deaths before? (I don't really remember). Anyway, the ghost accidentally got absorbed into the FL’s aura without her noticing, so it got dragged all the way to the mansion.

That’s why every night the ghost kept moving around making loud noises as she was looking for someone. At first, the FL thought she was being targeted, especially since she once made eye contact with the ghost while she accidentally met that nobleman. The FL even tested it by moving to the basement and letting the ghost come into her room. The ghost looked around and said, “It’s not here.” That’s when the FL was like, "Okay fine, I’ll help you find your guy, just stop scaring everyone at night." Because all the servants were hearing the kong kong kong sounds and couldn’t sleep. But this is only temporary.

As for why the ghost is upside down, in Korea, virgin ghosts are women who died virgin and at worse, before they could marry, so they hold a lot of resentment. Some people say they’re upside down because their life was flipped. Basically symbol of an “Inverted Life” (뒤집힌 운명 / Reversed Fate).

Like, she should have had a normal life: grow up → standing proudly as a bride, get married → be cherished.

But instead, everything turned upside down: death → abandonment. So now even their ghost refuses to stand normally. It’s like their whole existence is saying that they feel wronged.

Ooooooh thank you! I’m Korean, too, so I understood the 처녀귀신 reference, however, I never actually heard the meaning behind all that. So thanks for clarifying!
