the child is harsh for saying that. but it's also helene's fault too that her child spoke that way. The child is a reflection of their parents. like really, 10 minutes for your child??? is that how parenting is supposed to be? don't say FL is stealing your position when you didn't even play your part.

You should remember that back in the past nobles weren't rlly your ideal type of parents. It was mostly children's nanny that took care of them. So we can't rlly blame her as most people in that era is like that or worse

let's also not forget that the child communicated her needs to her parent. my point stands cuz what did Helene do? she stood her up. she was lacking as a mother, just like everyone else in that era then.

Yep like everyone in that era, when back then they didn't have our common sense and a lack of understanding in most fields including childcare (like even in the modern era some ppl were oblivious towards mental health, therefore it could be seen as barbaric for future generations)

She's lacking but let's give her some slack. She's actually better than most mothers on her time period and status. She allotted time in her schedule to be present in her children's lives, took note of their likes and dislikes, remembers their schedule too. Most of noblewomen would leave everything to their nannies since marriage out love is so rare in their class. Bearing children is an obligation to them, but caring for them, not so. 10 minutes is still not enough to care for them properly though.
Actually, Helene's situation is pretty much still a reality to some mothers in modern times, particularly working moms that have pretty hectic carers, and those multi-tasking working nurturing and working.
One thing is clear though, Helene loves her children, she's trying, just didn't know how to effectively show it cuz she's one of those children who grew up neglected by her parents.
Maybe that's why Wilhemina likes her despite Helene's cat-like attitude toward her.
