Even in the big city violence against queer people still exists! Literally just recently two queer men were stabbed to death in NYC. So saying it only happens in the south is incredibly ignorant. Just b/c a city is open to queer people violence will sadly always follow due to bigots hatred against queer community.

this just isn’t a true statement and is very ignorant to be honest. the usa is better positioned towards homosexuality than other countries but it’s not perfect. this chapter was realistic, especially in a big city where many people surround you and can judge your choices.
