FOMO is so painful

Does anyone else ever try reading one of those super popular BL/yaoi manhwas — or just hyped manhwas in general — and end up not liking it? Like, you want to get into it because everyone’s talking about it, and it feels like you're missing out if you don't. But even when you try, it just doesn’t click with you or match your preferences at all. Still, you kind of want to force yourself to read it. It’s such a weird FOMO feeling — like, “Maybe if I keep reading, I’ll get why everyone loves it,” but at the same time, you’re just not enjoying it. So you end up dropping it… but then you see people talking about it again, and the cycle starts all over.

FUCK SJHFSHDH, LIKE I WANT TO BE PART OF WHATEVER THE HELL IS GOING ON TOO?!?!

OMG,I so feel this..It’s like all the hype makes you feel like you have to like it,but if it doesn’t click..ugh,it’s just exhausting.I’ve learned it’s totally fine to drop stuff without feeling bad,you get to enjoy what You actually like, not what everyone else says is “good.

Omgoshh I agree!!! And tbh, I’m still learning to accept that it’s okay not to like everything It’s been TUFF, especially since that’s usually what people talk about, and I can’t really join in. But it’s honestly so nice to know I’m not alone!!

NOO 'cause that’s SOO real. I started reading BLs in 2020 too, and so many people (and friends) introduced me to some popular reads. I tried, but they just didn’t click with me. Some were just... GRUESOME like what you said. I recall a friend recommending me Killing Stalking??? LMAO. Anyway, I guess it’s all just personal preference—but like... what were the standards in 2020?

THAT IS SO REAL. I'm glad I found my tribe through this question. I tried reading a few of the famous BLs that were popular during The Plague, and so many of them turnwd out to be no substance rape fetishes. Like hello??? These are what made korean BL industry popular among global readers???
