it honestly depends on country and stuff. I live in a country where homosexuality isn't legal or okay but men still hold hands and walk and no one bats an eye and stuff. I guess they don't live in a place like that

I assumed the same because where I live men most definitely cannot do that without high chance of being assaulted and women too have been harassed.
but even then, societal pressures dont just go up in the air because you wont face violence. bigotry and isolation do a lot to your mental health. being stared at and judged for just walking down the street hand in hand with your same sex lover can fuck you up.
not to mention doing so when you can run into someone you know easily who might not be tolerant is scary, too
like trvmp's america isn't still homophobic asf even if homophobia manifests itself more violently in other countries...
