yeah you explained perfectly why I finished this story with an unsatisfactory feeling. I really like the stories of this author usually but this time it was kind of meh.
The writing felt rushed, perhaps the author got tired of the story too.
To be completely honest, I didn't enjoy this read, and this is completely my preference, I mean no offense to the author, but before the relationship was established there was little to no depth in their connection or how feelings came to be.
In that sense, I believe that the entirety of the story lacks backstory, and uses clichés to try and entice the reader, which instead makes it boring and predictable.
The whole "tsundere" attitude of the uke is unbearable and cold, especially to someone he likes, and would honestly drive me up the wall if I were to be treated that way constantly(of course the seme isn't me, but a lack of compassion in a relationship does not bring about feelings of wholesomeness).
And on that point, after the relationship was established, the uke and everyone else in the damn book kept drawing attention to the fact that the seme is not his type, we get it and I'm sure he does too with how much the uke brings it up. Yet it is brushed under the "rug" and subverted by sex. This plot point could have been explored in the 8 bloody chapters worth of useless buildup that I wouldnt even count as a mound in a field.
The material for a complex relationship was there but the author failed to grab it by it's spindly neck and strangle it with a well thought out story.
It makes the relationship feel forced.
Not to mention the miscommunication, I sense that it was supposed to be a character trait of the uke's, but it felt more like a cheap cop-out. Not to mention the sex had no feeling, rhyme or reason, but I suppose in a coupling that lacks feeling there must be the, honestly, sad copulation.
To summarise, the characters lack depth, the concept lacks substance, and the story lacks personality. All in all, I find this read to be draining and does not elicite the fluffy or wholesome feeling it wanted to portray.
I hope to see this author improve their story-boarding in the future. As the potential is there but the understanding is not.
