Considering Zoro was kinda MIA for a lot of the arc fighting Lucci, he Jinbei and Sanji had a lot of screen time last ep.
As you know they need to leave the island, (I don’t know if you got to that part but someone is coming to help) so they can leave now and everyone was ready and heading to shore except Zoro, who was still fighting Lucci and had been for like 30+ episodes.
So when the crew was talking over their headsets, Zoro overheard Sanji talking to Jinbei and Sanji calls him deadweight and that is he slowing the crew down. He is called a burden in the manga, but the translation changes a bit.
Anyway, the main thing is that when this is said and Zoro hears it he goes quiet and his face turns dark. The words really bother him and echo in his head, after this he strikes the final blow. So, basically Sanji’s words are what push Zoro over the edge to defeat Lucci. I feel like this is total fanfic gold, maybe that’s just me. But I really enjoyed that they put this in the show.
Also, normally the Zoro and Sanji dynamic is pretty back and forth and normally both are right or wrong, so the fact that Sanji was kinda right and Zoro didn’t even retort back is something that I don’t think has ever happened.
Omg yesss I love moments like this that break them out of their dynamics, like that time in wano when sanji was wrapping zoro up and they actually had a normal conversation. I'm more of a zoroxluffy fan (don't smite me that was kinda embarrassing to admit lmaoo) but when there's moments that are good material for other ships I still be kicking me feet and shi (⌒▽⌒) this is lowk motivating me to catch up
Omg I’m glad you like moments like this too! I agree, I like when the usual dynamic is broken down. I enjoyed the time in Wano between them, when Sanji was trying to help Zoro. Sanji says something like “ I’m not a ham, you don’t have to warp me that tight!” And Zoro says like “oh please, your not that appetizing.” It’s playful and full of fic potential.
I totally get the ZoroxLuffy ship, he is his first mate and first crew member. It is special. Also, if you have watched the live action, it’s very ZoroxLuffy esque in my opinion. Like there is a scene that is just in the live action where zoro is downed by Mohawk during their classic fight and luffy is like, “Zoro please make up, I can’t be the King without you!” And he even goes so far to say, “I’m not hungry” because of how upset he is. Their bond is really shown here. For me personally, I just feel that Luffy is so canonically innocent it’s hard to ship him, but I still want to. For me, I think I like luffy x nami or luffy x vivi I guess, but I feel like nami and uusop is more obvious. Or there is luffyxlaw which I do like since he saved his life, both did actually. Anyway, I can still get done with luffyxzoro. You should check out myreadingmanga and ignore all the porn ads and check out the manga fics, I certainly have. Ther is a lot of proclivity actually, a lot very tame.
Yes, you should definitely catch up, I’m curious, where are you at? If your on egghead, the Bonny and Kuma story is so good and definitely a tear jerker and also the five elders are intense and do some surprising things, do you know about this at all? I can release more spoilers if you like
Yessss I watched the live action with my bsf and I had to giggle to myself at those moments cuz she's not weird like me lol. In the anime I'm on egghead because I lost my Crunchyroll sub like a year ago or smth and just never got it back, got to busy with life to binge. I was so sad when I found out the anime is already past egghead I feel so left behind
lol I agree, most of my friends are not weird like me lol. I can definitely relate to getting so busy you can’t binge, I have so many seasons of shows to catch up on.
The anime actually is not past egghead. They are still very much on egghead and it is nearing the climax. They are trying to escape. I’d jump on in and join the journey, you’re not left out!!
