Shes literally a maid living in really shitty conditions, not to mention this is probably way back in like the 17-1800s idk, but unless you were a noble or some great figure, you'd most likey have bad hygiene, cuz no one gives a fuck about commoners. So all the people thats working in that building probably REEK, or at least they're highkey musty cuz they dont have soap or all the stuff u need to be completely fresh, just water and a dream. Not to mention they only have like two pairs of clothes.

I genuinely don‘t believe that maids for nobles reek, and I also don‘t think nobles would allow people who are filthy to touch, bathe or cook for them. It‘s not medieval europe, soap did exist … and perfumes and fragrances existed even for the lower class. Clean attire also was taken seriously by peasants of higher station (In this case maids), they made sure to starch their white clothes, so there is no excuse for a maid in a nobles household to have musty underwear </3
