I've read a bit of the novel, *idk if this is spoiler since this stuff is skipped for some reason in the webtoon* and before she left, he treated her really well but, after realizing that during their entire marriage she never trusted him enough and stayed only to have his kid to get away (wife told him this) well he went cray cray.
In my opinion the guy's reasoning is so yikes. We knows the maid is he's wife but a few years younger than her wife age when she got summoned. Still he punish the maid who never become his wife. Plans to teach the maid to stay by his side by subjecting her to many humiliation, turns her into basically a sex slave and by coercion and threats.
It's like he's recreating what the circumstances of when he was with his wife but, this time he won't be the one being fooled and left.
