I agree, they have been together for a bit now and he still is constantly stumbling through words to make sure not to anger him. Even agreeing to date and accept him was forced and awkward for a moment there.
I felt this way too, but in the end, once you read the ML's side and back story, you wil discover that ML is a big puppy and that MC got ML in his fingertips. MC just needs to stop looking at ML through the novel's perspective and have a backbone.
