It's pretty much simply because he's a God, he doesn't need food to live and he can't taste the food anyway. Which is why he thought it was pointless for her to give him food. Human food really means nothing to him, I guess you can say he sees it like any another object on Earth... If we tried to eat plastic there wouldn't be much of a taste ╮(￣▽￣)╭

I think it's more like his physical form is just that, a form. He is a God, so he is more of a concept, an entity, that has a physical form, but no real "life connection" to it. It's just an appearance he takes, without the body organs really functioning ; he doesn't breathe, he doesn't feel pain or exhaustion. His body is just a way for him to appear to the eye as a recognisable figure I guess. ^w^
