i don’t think that ML would’ve even told him if he did ask, at least it seems like he wouldn’t have. just from judging how he’s behaved up to now.
kinda like “well, you would just have to see for yourself what it does if you do decide to press it” yk. that way, it just adds to the pressure of him not choosing to press it.

I get he wouldn't have told him. But he literally didnt have any critical thought on how maybe the button would have a much greater consequence? He didnt make a single attempt to understand what the button would be?
Did Howoo literally ever think to ask or just be slightly more curious on what would happen if he pressed the button??? His only thought was "maybe it does nothing, probably not!!!" And nothing else??? He really is incredibly easy to manipulate.....
