I mean, platonic love exists and it would be very hard to completely lose the person. The story will likely make him feel romantic love but yk, it's not wrong to want a soulmate/best friend in their life and not let them go. But it's hard on the other person if they can't help being with love and have to leave to stop hurting, it is what it is and it's hard all around
