I’d like to disagree on that, I mean he’s black. In several myths or stories a black tinted version of something = bad luck. Also let’s not forget he resembles the previous king(?) and that’s the main reason they hate him. (If im confusing his backstory please let me know im reading like 30 other similar stories >_<) As for the poisoning , maybe he’s trying to blame someone else and use that commotion to escape since he did mention about cooking up a way to get out.

For the poisoning tho - its just kinda wild considering that's his speciality.
I mean he could also blame his parents, he’s lowkey smarter than them and he can expose their secret stash of poisons to get some sort of mercy if he manages to convince them that they “forced” him. I’m saying this because he DID deny the charges but we’ll see next chapter :v
