Maybe you're thinking of the gx version of the manga? The one from kurata
as far as I know the previous chapters were all from the view of Maomao. This one now shows the rescuers. It is the same story but in different views to show a more complete picture of the action.
And the anime took over the manga right with those chapters. While the anime concluded the whole arc in the second season the manga couldn't keep up (or at least the fan translation couldn't).
Maybe you read the latest chapters somewhere else? I only read manga here and I am 100% sure the balcony scene did not happen yet.
I 100% only read manga here, and i was letting this marinate. When i skim through the latest chapter at that time it was the balcony scene.

I vaguely remember that the shi clan arc is already translated in eng and uploaded it here. And im sure what i remember is from the manga cuz i haven't watched the anime yet.

I remember something along the scene of loulan being shot and falling down, and that jinshi had a wound across his face. And then rescued maomao.
So i was confused why the latest chapter is them starting to attack the shi clan
