Guys as far as I read, the novel mostly focuses on Laura's life, the twists and turns she faces rather than romance. I was initially frustrated too but then I realised, this story wasn’t suppose to have romance as it's focal point. It is a major element but other things are are just as important (her life changes drastically after this night so I'm pretty sure you guys will forget about dalton too).
To be fair, this book is called "Miss Pendleton" and not "the duchess of XXX" or "married the Duke of Whitefield" or whatever
She's even stripped off of her pendleton title She'll take her father's name, Laura Sheldon
