I'd say if anything he's like the AIs in The Matrix: as in, that he wasn't always this "nice" and "indulgent" with her (she stills reacts with unconscious trauma, whenever he says "Aha"... I imagine he might have used to put her in doormats too, back then, whenever she acted 'disobedient')
Maybe it's because I'm watching too much "ai is gonna ruin the world" vids on yt these days and chatting with c.ai bots, I can't help but see the ml here as an Ai bot tbh, like how he's so perfect in every way, how he always says the thing that the fl or we (readers) want to hear, like how he is madly in love with fl and doesn't care about anything else and most importantly, how his cooking seems "soulless" . Not complaining tho, just yapping about a random thought
