I think Enid's reaction comes from the sum up of all his life, thinking he was poor and having the humongous effort he put on potions never getting a single penny or recognition. I don't think Enid would have been that mad if the director have told him that his parents where wealthy and he had an inheritance but due to the plague he used it up, basically the problem is the director taking what wasn't his with no remorse, apology nor notice and living life and teaching Enid as if he did nothing of the sort. I would also be livid once I realise the truth, it's basically betrayal or breaking the reality I once knew.

Yea, i mean i get that. His flashbacks was very hard to bear. And it was 100 time worse cos of that varabtch. The betrayal was worst cos enid actually somehwat trusted the director albeit not much attachment. I get his side. But also, if i look at the other side (not the director’s side) and to see children dying cos of lack of support and surviving cos of that money. Its like doing a good deed but at what cost. Like saving 100 and sacrificing one. A limbo of morality and justification.

Morally I side with you ngl but on a personal level I feel like I would’ve ended up reacting that way too tho cause wdym I was struggling out there being shunned without even knowing what went on behind my back. The least the director could’ve done was apologise even if it won’t change anything cause it was Enid’s money rightfully. He had no right to that money even if it was for a good cause. The way he’s acting towards Enid saying oh you should work harder starting now and won’t be hard for you and shi doesn’t make it sound right yk. But ig like you said at the end it’s sacrifice one to save a hundred

Their resolve is more to "sell when its needed" or using plague as a way to get rich and taking advantage when the world is crumbling. Just think of it as when the war happen the information guild gonna help them got lots of info but the also taking the advantage that they can make profits out of it while still helping because its their country too. They gonna look like ur good guy but doesn't change that u use it as a way for you to live in luxury too
when i read this confrontation on the novel. I somewhat morally sided with the director cos during that time there was apparently an outbreak and many kids where orphaned. Their orphanage was able to survive and others as well because of the money. I didn’t understand the outrage and enid’s cold unforgiving treatment to the director. Maybe cos its mtl or what but the director seemed selfless in the novel cos he didnt steal the money for himself (it was the brother who embezzled) but used it to save more children with it. But seing him interpreted like this and his experession. Yea. We should sack this btch up. Enid actually had a better punishment for him and ive never been so proud of the mc i stan!
