No like fr, this happens so many times in badly written stories I feel like. They feel the need to give the ml a sad backstory, but the consequences of that action doesn’t justify it at all. I would get it if he only treated people badly because he was traumatized, he can grow from that and redeem himself still. However, literal lives were lost because of him?? At that point, there’s no redeeming it, unless an external force was the cause of his actions.(which doesn’t seem like it)
They could’ve chosen so many other reasons why the ml had to give up on the injured men. Something like a nefarious outsider messing with the procedure, not getting enough funding for the medical team, or just not knowing it was happening in the first place. It still would’ve sucked but it would at least give leeway to some sort of redemption. Rn, I can’t hope for his happiness at all, since lives and families were ruined because of his stupid childhood trauma.
