No it's a flashback from his pov, so he is leaving out all the time he beat her up or other.
If you took this (chapter 123) as the first chapter of the story then we would have had a totally different thing… people would have rooted for Cesare, we would then have had a story about an obsessive step brother ML who kidnap and lock up his step sister to be able to marry her and then she would have developed a Stockholm syndrome… interesting knowing we have so many isekai stories of this style. I like the face that depending on how the story starts and who the story follows we get to experience different storylines.
