Soovertine his understanding of love, family and relationships was warped and he started to develope this obsession with ruby. So her turning away from him - following his fathers orders - at a time where he was beat down by the same father and was at a breaking point. For her to unknowingly leave him in such a crucial moment where he probably needed her the most emotionally… it did feel like a betrayal to him
Nah, she didn’t betray him first because if I recall, he was already beating her and harassing her when she accepted to get married to Izek. What we see here during this mf’s flashbacks is facade Ruby ready to put herself first.
I understand why he became the way he did, I mean he loved ruby and ruby clealry did betray him first but they where young.
That love became obsession and he did everything to try to make ruby stay in his fathers way because that’s how his father made him stay. Yk the saying, a chick will copy its mother(aka father).
