Totally get your point, but I think it's more that in the context of the original language, the meaning of their written text can encompass so much in one sentence. Whereas, to translate it into English, it could mean several more bubbles or even a paragraph essay to relay what is being said so shortly in the original language.
That’s fair. I haven’t read the raws but the sheer numbers of bubbles is overpowering.
Could also be if it’s adapted from a novel, sometimes the amount of exposition can’t be cut down enough or visually communicated instead so there’s lots of text left
Wouldn’t it be fine to just cut down on the art then? Have a dialogue only page. It just feels too busy with both text walls of dialogue AND art. Not all of that conversation was necessary either.
I guess it’s the editing department or whoever who decides on storyboard? Idk but good question what kinds of options are even considered
True. I worked a job where these things were considered and I also studied in media and typography so seeing stuff like this ruffles my feathers knowing that I would have personally taken other steps.

I love this so much but the art to text ratio is soooo off that it feels taxing on my eyes ╥﹏╥ your art should be the thing you see most in any page of manga style book and text should help add context and dialogue as necessary but technically you should be able to look at the art and more or less understand what’s happening. Please author, take pity on my eyes and dial back on the amount of text ╥﹏╥
