    HWHABAHAHA LOL TRUEEE

Tbh people’s tolerances for medicine tend to decrease over time with repetitive usage. This is why people are prescribed limited duration of medication use, and if people in the omegaverse abuse it to induce a heat or delay it, it can really fuck up the point of the medication in the first place. Also, these dudes aren’t going to the doctor often to get their prescriptions rewired, so that can also be a different cause

Depends on the side effects and risks of taking the medication for a long period of time. Would make a fun twist to write an omegaverse where the meds themselves are addictive and efficacy goes down relatively quickly with prolonged use.

lol this is an interesting topic, if meds actually did go down in efficacy I imagine living as an omega would be way way harder if it actually existed. like they would be an even lower class of citizen then they already are since the meds would be hella expensive at a certain point so either theyd need so consume so many of them or they gotta tank their heat each time, neither of which seem like good options.

Seriously. And even being an alpha would become a nuisance since their ruts would be uncontrollable, despite their immense power, money, and influence. So really, being a beta is the best… But they’re even more at a disadvantage considering an Alpha’s physical prowess. Would powerful Betas then use Alphas and Omegas in other ways, since it’s nearly impossible (after a certain point) to control their heat/rut? And what would the power dynamic in that world look like? Idk. It would be a fascinating read imo. I’d love to see how it plays out culturally as well.

As an aside, sorry. Can you tell I work in social sciences? Lmao. I really do love reading this stuff. The way the authors apply it is so interesting!

For sure! I think it’s interesting how when people get delayed heat and they take medications, they can have a different response than normal meaning from a young age. I just said the opioid pandemic since there is stigma associated with the medication and people basically withdrawing from it rlly bad reminds me of omegas or alphas being absolutely overloaded by their pheromones and resorting to irrational behavior. I’m going to med school so I know a bit about meds in general since I’m doing research on mothers with opioid use disorder but like I only know it from a impact perspective rather than knowing it in depth! I’ll learn lmao

If we had this perspective, we probably wouldn’t be shitting on omegaverse as much as most people lmao. Your vision runs true even in real life (obviously in a different scenario, as you see crack addicts and homeless people… u know the rest)

You’re very well-read! I think your ideas would be so awesome however it would be great from a POV where the character is a beta and in a position of power since we would understand the dynamics best haha

You’ll have so much fun in med school. Think in systems. I do this with my kids. What does a certain issue mean if we think of it from the perspective of, say, a specific religion. How do we view the same issue from a specific party perspective, or a different one? Who benefits. Who loses? How do we solve (or choose not to solve) the same issue from the perspective of a different country? From a specific demographic? Etc. etc. as you go from larger system to the individual, it is so mind blowing how much variability you run into. Even if you’re the one viewing it from a different lens. It eventually becomes second nature and you’ll be crashing casual book-clubs with your academically trained over-thinking in no time. I definitely did the other night. However, this? This is one of my favorites to date. I love the cross-cultural what-if’s. It’s really fascinating. And you’ve given me a lot to think about. :)
