I think when he got in there he became the protagonist or something, cuz in the game he was playing, he was playing the Mc and he can make other characters have their likes increase for the Mc(which is ml now) , so in a way, the more he interacts with everyone or other characters the more the hearts towards him goes up, he even mention he can get the male character's heart to go up when playing the Mc, which is weird for him at that moment cuz he thought he can only do that to female characters
