Don't judge and you can have your opinion

As an adult, I don't see anything wrong with the chief. If you work and need to keep your job, you accept the fact that you can't give so much time to your family as you need to feed them. His work came with backlash which is also very common with many positions as each has their own opinion. The OD part was serious but she needs help and he is trying.
Here is a kicker, I think he shouldn't stop company B but tell his daughter to give and exclusive interview where she can say her side. I don't know about others but our 1st chapter starts with an idol dating article...life happens but their job was show the truth and I don't want that change just for nepotism

Nah as another adult the chief is objectively, a bad father
Sure, his job comes with consequences for his whole family and it's out of his control, but being absent is his choice
You can work on the other side of the world and still make an effort to be present, people do it all the time.
It's not ok to distance yourself to the point you can't tell your wife is so depressed, she tried to unalive herself. It's also not ok to not teach your kid how to deal with bullying.
Apparently he's trying to be a better husband, which is good.
And I think he will try to be a better father by dealing personally with the other company, "nepotism" be damned.

Supposedly, as per the concept, he had irregular work times so they can't life and work balance. Also, I am assuming she is old as she was researching. So, no social media or WhatsApp or any other to call like only landline. How do you communicate??? He told them the best way to handle bullies to not to hear them.....he himself thought isolation was best thing but it isn't is something a bully victim or someone who saw it. Chief is old so at his younger age he might have not been so knowledgeable.
It is your chose to like nepotism and there is nothing for me to say.

This is my two cents, being a workaholic doesn't make you a bad person but is not a surprise her daughter and wife got like that, we don't know the chief's reasons, even in his work he is known as the workaholic wich means he , maybe, had the time but choose to stay at work, we don't know if it was his choice being passionate and all, or, if he did it to get more money and a higher position for his family, but theres only one truth, he hurt his girls, and he haven't been trying to reconnect with his Daughter like he did with his wife which is something objectively awful, I don't know why can't people just comunicate better instead of let your kid to think you don't care for years, any kid would love to have their parent stop for a second and tell them they care, also, remember that bullying in Japan is also a big deal too.

I don't blame the daughter , she actually has a good reason to hate him, if it was me I'd probably be even more angry lol. But, yeah, is time for him to show her he loves her.

If it's me I will find another job.
I work for my family, if that work ruins my family why will I continue doing it?

He made poor choices tbh, he chose the job and the effort to make his family intact is not enough obviously. Your daughter was bullied because of you and you just said "dont mind them"? Tf is that?

I agree with you, I don't think the daughter is wrong but I feel like dads had a hard time talking to kids at those times.
I also agree he should talk to his daughter but big but here she is an adult and she should come out and say the truth like she is a human and had a hard time though she became an idol...like I want her to tell the truth and not erase her past with connection....I don't know like I don't like the " daddy fix my problem at least do the bare minimum so I like you again and we all are happy again" stroyline
I don't know....am I making sense even.....one side I want the daughter to be proper adult and the other side I want the chief be proper working adult....is it different or is it same

Here is an irritating one....even in my workplace they use to give that one bloody example which is in bloody LinkedIn which I don't condone and had an argument with my superior in a fun way as I had to work there, is Japanese people work carefully and diligently until they feel very tired so like them work 12 hrs(/TДT)/ ...I had the mindset to leave that company was it good decision or bad only time will tell but Japanese people didn't think about changing until very recently so you and I have the luxury of mindfulness to leave a company but they didn't. Even now Japan's unemployment isn't low but they try their best to not exploited...though MAPPA did it very recently and that's why Zombie 100 was my pivotal reason to leave my company as it felt so real.
At the end of the day I am just a sad unemployed person who is saying working is hard....if you have work it is hard if you don't have any then also it is hard and this was my rant

i have mixed feelings about this. there's nothing wrong with him prioritizing his work, but i think all sense goes out the door when your family has to deal with harassment & alienation to the point that your wife tries to kill herself. if i truly valued my family, i would've suggested moving & maybe even take legal action. he's an editor for christ's sake. his job is exposing people & he could've used that to his advantage to support them. i think what he should do from here on out is to rekindle his relationship with his family by admitting his mistakes. his daughter seems to hate him mostly bc of his absence, so hopefully he'll use his position to threaten the company with her leaked photos.

Moving out is something, I didn't consider but is alienation so bad...we do it in regular bases as we don't what happening around us.
Exposing average people life by editor who works in a newspaper? Don't know would it work or not?
I agree with apologizing but this is part I am totally utterly against is to threaten the company with his position but at the end that's what might happen as this is a happy story

Oh yeah forgot about the "work" environment in Japan. I heard that most of them stick with their employer until the very end and even hiring someone who will apologize in their place once they decided to quit.

They should address that issue for real.

And I just realize why most of the isekai anime has an MC who died because of overwork, they're trying to show this bad side.

We can see differently but I so agree with this part. I remember the first news for me when I was in school that white collar jump off the roof due to over work and stress.
Then, came this beautiful lady who started to advocate about their work ethics in my life....I was so pissed and wished all my heart that she goes to japan and find herself the dream employer every single time.
They should change and the world should never uphold such work place which enforces this kind of mentality

yes, alienation is absolutely bad if it drives someone to suicide. it should not be justified just bc people do it on a regular bases. & he wouldn't be exposing "average" people. he'd be exposing crimes committed by people that harassed his family. you can absolutely appeal for a case regarding his daughter's bullies. what they did is illegal in japan & should not be tolerated. however, what goes around comes around. these people might be holding grudges &/or are related to the people that were exposed by his articles. but one key difference is that his job isn't illegal & their actions are. i think it was irresponsible of him to put this pressure on his family when they didn't even sign up for it. but i also think that depending on whether he'll save his daughter's reputation, his relationship could be salvageable.
