They broke up because MC omitted that he only got to know ML for writing inspo. This to ML looked like MC was just lying and using him, like all the other ppl in his life.
After finding out, ML came back to MC basically asking to see if MC would hold on to him and their relationship but MC thought that for ML's sake, he should let him go so he said nothing. Fast forward to 4 years.
I let it marinate for so long I actually forgot the storyline so far fml
