The question is did he begin loving her when he tried to save her or did he already love her? I get the feeling her fam was chosen because he has feels for her and his family sucks

Honestly I think you’re on to something because it kinda seems like he already had feelings for her prior because why else would he, KNOWING she was a huge threat, also try to save her life and give her an opportunity to change, in the past life? It had to have been because he actually had feelings for her. It would make total sense if the royal family caught on as well to his feelings for her like when he mentioned that he first saw her at the ball..

Despite not having met them they seem like the type of assholes who would do such a thing. Especially the dad since he blames his son for taking his beloved away wouldn't be surprised if this is some kind of fucked up payback....I fucking hate men who blame their children when the wife dies in childbirth. Like one of the two of you knew child birth was dangerous and played an active role in getting someone pregnant and I'm pretty sure it isn't the embryo.

Definitely!! It seems like they would be the type to ruin his happiness at all costs as long as it benefited them so I def agree the dad had a huge role in keeping them apart. And LITERALLY LIKE I HATEEE that trope of the man hating the child like how is it the CHILDS fault they never asked to be born they never wanted to kill their mother like what kind of one braincell having ass person would blame a child it’s sick

Spoiler! This is from what I interpreted from the limited chapters i could get from the novel btw so pls take with a grain of salt:

I’m not sure if yurien loved her in their past life, but he saw that she was fighting as she managed to overcome the cursed swords just for a bit, hence why he did not kill her and saved her instead. Also the holy sword he has does speak to him and give him advice, and was also an advocate for saving her!

In this current life of hers, yurien remembers the past but only in fragments at this time I think. Since he sees his past life through dreams and etc, I’m pretty sure he does fully remember them eventually tho!

I thinks he already liked her to begin with. I think its the time where they first met, during the banquet...? Plus, the way the author always mentions their first meeting is kind of foretelling or suggesting that something bloomed there. And from what the other comment said, the sword tells a bits of bits...

I KNOOOOOOW fuck that trope I feel like this is like if you gave your wife puffer fish to eat and then got mad at the fish when something happened. Like you know puffer fish is dangerous yet you still gave it to the person you love. Honestly though I doubt they ever think about the danger since men never die from "puffer fish" which brings me to me #2 problem your wife gave her life to bring this child into the world. Why are you negating her sacrifice or trying to make it in vain. Because even if the men never think about it women definitely do. They know they could be fine but they also know this "meal" could be their last.

Yes, although we don't have much detail about it. I think it started at the ball where they first "met". Coincidently our girl Eckie become the wielder of the curse sword which could be because they learned about Yurien's "feelings or thoughts" about her (just my theory). Hope to know more about their past interactions

    Spoiler from novel!!

TLDR: Started as interest, then guilt after sword demon stuff, guilt + past experience with her soul blossoms into love when he sees her in the next life.

    Long explanation:
Yurien has a special ability from his giosa (which btw, also talks to him like FL’s!), allowing him to see if a person’s soul was good or bad, intent good or malicious. At the party, the FL sparks his interest because her soul had a special light (see ch 64-65 of novel) He doesn’t act on this interest as he’s sent away to Azenka. His second brother notices his interest, and this is why he sends the cursed giosa to her household.

Yurien was able to see that light he once saw through the darkness from the curse of the sword, which is why he spared her. Also, because of his obsession with swords he’s already interested because in the fight where they subjugate her, he admires her sword work.

While she is imprisoned, Yurien finds the true reason she became the sword demon, they did need a household to send it to but the second brother sent it to her out of hate for Yurien.

Even though she destroyed his home, he could not hate her out of guilt, especially when he could see her soul. He refused to fight and let himself die, and when he reawoke he could not forget her, and how he soul was still fighting through the malice that tainted it. You could essentially say here is where it became love, when he saw her again at the cadet tryout, and no longer was her soul tainted but now bright as a sun. It’s her prowess, personality and steadfast soul he fell in love with.
