Aside from the age gap, I'm also confused as to why she needs to save up money for college. Coz in the beginning, it's implied that Haebom's family is rich, like they own the Nuldongmae. And isn't that why Haebom's mother was killed? Because the family they helped is a greedy bunch that even stoke from them?
Or maybe she just want to be independent that's why she's saving up for college
Na, she was pretty young. Haebom did say that she was looked down on because she had her baby put of wedlock, barely out of high school. The age-gap should 8-10 years (Hyeonji being 18-20, the dad being 28-30 (if u assume that he is saying 30 in Korean age).
I definitely think she was 18+, just taking gap year(s) to save up for college. Probably still in her early 20s
Naur like i dont doubt that she was over 18 cause the author more than likely wouldn't write pedo characters and as the other comment mentioned haebom mentioned she was BARELY out of high school but then that would mean she would 18-20. I think thats still worth being upset over no 30 year old man should be going after a girl fresh outta high school. it doesn't sit right with me but then again white men going to Asian countries and having children with much younger asian women is unfortunately historically accurate...
U can't get get more real than that. But atleast the grandpa genuinely loved her and it wasn't just a fling. Hyeonji's love and trust weren't betrayed by her lover, and that's what matters the most
i'm a little confused about the age gap here...so he was 30 and she wasn't even in college yet cause she was still "saving up"...hmm I really really hope that just means she was talking a couple gap years and was like ATLEAST 24. I really really dont wanna believe the author would write it so she was just a teenager. And i dont wanna hear the "it was different then" argument cause laws aside u can't use ur own moral compass??
