    Maybe the dad can pass on preventative measures or like have a stand by contact and tell them what to do if it does happen if they need to see a doctor overseas.

    But he is doing fine now, so whatever he had seems to be curable now... At least in the states.

    Not necessarly. He can inherit it, but if he took the healthy genes of his mother then he's alright. Or he could inherit it but it could be recessive. I guess.
