Baek Dohu Autism Representation

Baek Dohu you are the autism representation of all time. Nearly burst into tears cause I saw myself in him so much, the breakup gutted me because I’ve unintentionally hurt people in the exact same way he has before. He’s so fucking real, I even had the same childhood experience of obsessively reading and even having psychology be my special interest because I needed to understand other people. This was my 9/11

Major eye roll. This character is very clearly on the spectrum, just high functioning. As someone with auDHD who got diagnosed in adulthood I completely agree with this sentiment. From the reading books to understand how you are supposed to behave, to clarifying your words because ppl take it wrong, to the way he didn’t understand his own emotions or how to convey them, the negative impact it caused his health and the way others don’t understand because he doesn’t function like a “normal” person. Yea, he’s 100% on the spectrum.

As someone on the spectrum who's also high functioning, he definetely is. The way he said its not sarcasm and people misunderstand him. Lol ive said the exact same thing many times. We are too literal sometimes.

Lmao, and Y'all are taking it way too Literally, you can see him as a representation, but he does not Autism, Autism is diagnosed by a range of disorder, with multiple issues characterized from repetitive behaviour, to extremely specific routines to other emotional and behavioral characterization, Baek Dohu as shown from the first chapter till the end of season 2 has just Emotional issues (He can't understand emotions well) which causes him to be blunt, if anything he has low Emotional intelligence
But High IQ, but behaviourally he is pretty okay and has no problem talking with people.

How do you guys like my SWOT analysis?

I did not mean range of disorder but range of symptoms, since it has a spectrum

You’re actually describing exactly what being on the spectrum can look like in high-functioning adults. Autism isn’t limited to “repetitive behaviors” or “specific routines.” It’s a spectrum that includes differences in emotional regulation, social interpretation, and communication style — all of which this character shows clearly.

High IQ and the ability to communicate don’t cancel out autism traits. In fact, many late-diagnosed adults (especially those with high verbal intelligence) mask or compensate socially while still struggling internally. What you’re labeling as “just emotional issues” is part of the clinical presentation for many autistic people, particularly those with coexisting ADHD traits (AuDHD).

So while you might not see the stereotypical markers, those of us who’ve lived it recognize the nuances instantly.

For the future, I recommend doing some research before you start talking out of your ass.

What the hell, I relate to him in a different way and you related to him in a different way, he may or may not be autistic, unless and until you are a qualified therapist you are also talking out of your ass, I did not just say "just emotional issues" I said low Emotional intelligence, many people have that and they are not autistic, but you have to prove that he is autistic and great, you go ahead and believe that.

I did research before i talked, but I did not just say stereotypical markers but his internal struggles are not exactly shown, at the end of the day it's just a character, a character can have multiple traits and multiple expressions.
Just think what you have to think
