Ty Twin for the knock on that. This manwha just took my attention due to its hints with religion. Anytime an author explores its hypocrisy and barbarity, I'm seated. Alongside the terrifying cruelty on Mr. Park Taewon's life.
Like...it's scary that what has happened to him can really become a reality to anyone. We can change the omegaverse/pheromones to drugs and Sangwoo has hooked Mr. Park on those. Plus, how he was blackmailed by the coworker Yang due to Sangwoo's torment on always calling him a wh*re and forcing his way to the act. Bruh, you are the one always overwhelming and taking advantage of him, a 30-40 something year old converted to a recessive omega just recently.
Mr. Park Taewon is between the battle of accepting his new life and body which he has no idea how to control. Like in previous mangas/manwhas, the omega during their childhood is displeased by their new status/gender/reproductive organ. Then, when their first heat comes, they are almost or just SA by their peers. Afterwards, they understand the heaviness of protecting themselves and living that prejudice everyday into their adult life.
Mr. Park Taewon did not get that chance of slowly adjusting to his new loathed body, pheromones, etc. due to the sudden change into his 30-40s as he was previously a prideful beta. Therefore, everything he held a prejudice to against omegas and alphas, he got it 10x times back as he has been rearranged to the lowest place of the totem pole/hierarchy against his will/forcibly by his own "son". Losing his self, his identity, his mind, his body, his husband and the respect amongst his environment/workplace, just barely holding it in until his coworkers may leak those SA videos featuring him to eventually never find employment afterwards in a society with heavy scrutiny on public image and a clean record. When at the end of reality, the scoundrels get scot-free while the non-perfect victim is left as a used broken toy on the dirt.
Following the next morning where their existence has disappeared on everybody's mind, the ensuing news come for a new featured flawed victim, and the cycle continues...
The religious symbols and depictions of Christianity bring a peculiar twist to this manwha. Have seen some Asian works where they bring the cruelty, hypocrisy, blind devotion and anarchy of Christianity/Catholicism to the fullest extend alongside its main cardinal sins, here with lust.
Pretty refreshing, pretty refreshing as if you pay attention in this chapter...when Sangwoo bites his finger, he draws his blood on top of Mr. Park's, making a giant red circle right in the middle. Reminds me of how Jesus was pierced with big nails on his hands and feet right in the middle for his crucifixion on the cross and eventually succumbing to his death. Plus, peep that bible alongside the cigarettes.
Many other previous chapters have been bringing that eerie vibe of Christianity. Tho after reading the novel, I was a little disappointed as...(minor spoiler?)
I was certain the dead dad was a pastor. They first met at a church and I rapidly concluded he held that profession after catching on the religious hints. Nonetheless, the novel said he was just a freelancer (didn't specify which one like artist, graphic designer, programmer, WHICH ONE?! the photography looked more like a hobby but I would take it). Then, it makes sense as the deceased father was like a stay at home parent and whenever Sangwoo came back from school, extracurricular, etc.; he would just get curled up inside his room not wanting to come out which Mr. Park Taewon found a little sad for not getting more opportunities to form a stronger father-son relationship. Like it was not until the car accident when Sangwoo finally referred to Mr. Park Taewon as "Dad'.
When did the obsession specifically start? what event happened for him to be so attached? Who knows if he killed his bio dad or detested both of his parents as (another spoiler from novel)...
Sang-woo was clearly physically abused as a kid (in previous chapters, there was a young Sangwoo knocking on a door while his calfs were red from previous slashes plus his crayon drawing on the floor showing his parents - the redhead one might have been the omega bio parent), but I don't know in which parent's house he was. The novel clearly stated that his omega mom, don't know if a man or a woman, was physically abusive towards him after his/her plan failed to baby trap the alpha bio dad to continue their relationship. So, where is the bio omega dad/mom? Did the bio alpha dad get Sangwoo away from the bio mom? Or was he also physically abusing him right until he married Mr. Park Taewon? Questions, questions, but that's just a GAME Theo-
