Of course! Actually, I read the novel last year — I think the site where I read it isn’t even working anymore, so maybe I remembered something wrong… but it was something like this:
In the novel, we actually got Karhan’s POV here, and it added so much to his character. Since he’s part of that long-living race (can’t remember the name lol), he’s been alive for ages — which makes him avoid getting attached to people and struggle to understand emotions. He’s kind and takes care of his brother, but deep down he’s just scared of losing more people. His only real friend is Lyras, since he’s long-lived too.
That’s why it’s so cute when we see how fascinated he was by Peep — the first time he ever found another being adorable or interesting. When Peep turned human, he was all confused at first, but then started realizing Sol was just as cute and interesting as Peep had been. Still, he was scared to get too close and watch Sol die someday.
So when Sol started pushing him toward Doel, Karhan got angry and hurt without even knowing why. Then when Lyras had those dreams about the “original story” and talked to Sol, Karhan couldn’t hear Sol’s heartbeat anymore and panicked. Seeing Sol all sad talking to Lyras made him feel this weird jealousy — that’s when it hit him that what he felt for Sol was actually love.
And that’s why he insisted on sleeping in the same bed with Sol, and why he helped Sol to relieve himself — he was in love and feeling that kind of desire for the first time in his life.
But the webtoon skipped almost all of that, so it just looked so random
Also, I love smut and the novel is very detailed, so skipping it in the webtoon was a crime lmao
The novel was so much better at this part... Not that the webtoon is bad, but they’re skipping all the sauce from the scenes. We didn’t get the smut or Karhan’s POV, which are really good in those chapters. Also, I hate what they’re doing with Sol’s clothes.
