I disagree.
Most of the time, author have simple thoughts while readers complicate it, however some characters are written with a flaw and readers starts acting like he bad, he should die etc which is just not what author intended.
In this case, the whole point of story is that he was indeed in love despite his approach to it. He wanted hyun and would have been with hyun even though he doesn't know it himself tht he is in love or gay but hyun kept abandoning him and ofc he is angry because he wants more
But... it literally cannot get more simpler than that….. the analysis didn't even read too much into it or anything, everything they said is literally the point of the story.....
that's why I wanted to include it in the first place because some people were not understanding the story I saw too many comments that think seoyoon is just the devil or smth lmao like lets look deeper into the character
Exactly. Like this is something that if you just read into it just a little it's pretty clear. I'd almost not even say that it was an analysis and more of an explanation of what's happening.
Anti-Intellectualism "it's not that deep bro" is killing media literacy I stg. It's also kinda insulting to the creator because it implies that they put no effort into creating and understanding the story they are making.
Also a reader is supposed to be the one analyzing the work?? The author isn't going to come out and hold your hand throughout the story.

I don’t really know why OP makes it sound like media analysis is a bad thing or something like this is just a normal part of consuming fictional stories. And like you say, why would the author come out with a character analysis the author gives us the pieces and it’s up to us the readers to put them together…..
Like even in the impossible hypothetical scenario where the author just intended to write top=bad, bottom=cry with no thought whatsoever, it’s still up to the readers to interpret it however we want. Because that’s what MEDIA is!! That’s why death of the author is a thing in the first place!
