To put it into perspective for you: Saying he’s only overprotective is really watering down the things he did. His own trauma doesn’t excuse his own actions. A good example of protectiveness is the mc’s sister. The sister protected him but didn’t shelter him and let him make his own decisions. Minwoo DID step over MC’s boundaries before. It wasn’t until the fight he got scared he’d never see MC again, that he decided to listen for once in their life. He’s only NOW starting to be a normal friend.
He is also obsessive (he literally admitted it more than once), and manipulative, as he tried to control who mc hangs out with, who mc met, and who mc can talk to. He admitted that his protectiveness also benefitted him by keeping Mc to himself. In chapter one, mc mentions that minwoo doesn’t like him joining a simple group chat. He told mc to stop his relationship with ml and monitored him by staying over at his house to prevent him from leaving. He made mc feel uncomfortable, suffocated, and scared of his reaction. Which is not normal for friends to be scared of their own friend’s reaction to their relationship. MC bottled up all these frustrating emotions and blew up at minwoo rightfully. Minwoo also kissed MC in his sleep. Minwoo also beat ML unconscious due to his own jealousy at seeing them mutually making out.

What you're doing is actually concerning and I hope you don’t have this mindset for real life. Because you don’t realize the red flags. You’re excusing and minimizing his actions to just being “overprotective” or “traumatized.” You’re not really thinking about how MC feels at all. Him starting to be a NORMAL friend NOW shouldn’t be praised. It’s the bare minimum. “Tries to protect him despite their feud,” should be the standard for a normal human being. If you fight with your friend and they're about to get sexually assaulted, you’d ignore them? This isn’t a competition between ML and minwoo. BOTH are bad in their own ways.
