I think he already realized but its trying not to scare Dan away (or more like he knows dans will reject him rn so he's trying to warm up to him before he confesses)

Still is very far off, but I hope after kim dan helps jk with his two matches, he leaves and JK lets him leave. Fulfilling the promise. Then after dan leaves JK will realize he loves dan and thats where the "chasing" the lover arch actually begins lol. But that's just a personal opinion, whatever the author wants, I'll just eat it up lol.
