Adults get into life altering accidents all the time lol. The human body is both super sturdy and weirdly fragile. Any of us could one day trip stupidly, fall at a weird angle, and break our neck.

Neck injuries like that can result in being paralyzed or having long term memory loss etc

At least Jaekyung was physically abused by a junkie dad (not even a Jinx super fan), like I really cooked up a horrible backstory (maybe I'm judging too soon and there's gonna be more-- which still doesn't make sense for his dad to do all cause his wife fell? So far all we got is his mom (sadly and kind of stupidly) slipped and ended up with permanent brain damage...also I really wish authors would look into head trauma more.
That short of fall even when hitting the bed post would cause some short term memory lost and issues maybe, but nothing of that severity so easily. Plus why didn't she brace herself???? Like what adult just let's themselves fall without using their limbs? She should have end up with a broken arm or a bad concussion (but brain damage?) give me a break. Then forgetting her child's face but seeing it in a little white boy on tv?
