That's what I'm thinkinggg, (yapping session incoming...) why do stories with a male mc all have stereotypically loser MCs? Both smut and not smut. Is it for self-insert? As a woman, when I'm reading something with a female character I personally prefer her to be beautiful and badass, who cares about self-insert? Like, isn't it much better to identify with a main character who's cooler than you are irl? The only ones with a cool male lead are usually the ones with women in the target audience lmao

From what I understood the featured page works in a way that the stories with the most ENGAGEMENT get featured, which can be either positive or negative, so the more people comment on these stories to insult them the more they are going to appear unfortunately :/
