I could be wrong (based off comments I semi remember reading), but apparently its different in the novel, they made the ML more icky here for the (rapy) smut ig

Yeah there's no smutt in the novel and for some reason they decided to change it for the comic and ruined their dynamic as a result unfortunately

Im so happy to hear that coz I LOVE the world building but HATED the rape scenes, ill have to check out thr novel then!!
