I think we can infer a few things from his actions.
He admits remembering mc’s mom.
But apologizing comes at the cost of mc hurting himself for his sake.
He slept with mc knowing the risk.
He knew he was poisoned and did not take the antidote by force.
He refuses to earn the antidote because he doesn’t want the mc to be hurt.
It’s not that he’s being just spiteful and refusing to apologize.
Damn. I was hoping he’d either apologize and die (I felt like that would’ve been a morally good ending objectively) but I was actually really hoping he’d apologize, mc would give him the medicine, and then live out the rest of his life repenting for what he’d done.
I’m not standing for him giving him the antidote until ml apologizes and actually does smth to show how sorry he is, even if it’s not out of wanting to be forgiven by the those he killed and is only out of wanting to be forgiven by the only person he loves. I think that’s the only way mc will feel at peace
