I haven’t seen any raws or anything but there are a lot of reasons he could react that way. I personally interpreted his expression as one of more conflicted feelings rather than one singular emotion.

Taegun essentially sees himself as damaged goods after his previous relationship while Eunsung still sees him as the same whole person. His reaction could be him reacting to that dissonance - discomfort at the idea that Eunsung loves him and doesn’t see him as broken while his “truth” is the opposite.

Eunsung wants to be a mark who cannot be forgotten but the only person we know that can fill that description for Taegun is the man who abused him. As we all know Taegun is really afraid of letting someone in again when they could hurt him, that face could be due to that fear of letting Eunsung be that close. Will he be another scar he has to carry in the future?

Finally, after seeing Eunsung’s suicide in Nightmare he now knows exactly why he is such a memorable figure in Eunsung’s mind. The idea that he is Eunsung’s saviour despite not actually doing anything significant in his own mind - being deeply connected to one of the worst periods in Eunsung’s life - he is not just a person Eunsung loves but a reminder that brings him pain. There’s a lot of conflicting emotions here for Taegun. He knows how it feels to want to die and he probably feels deep empathy for Eunsung’s pain now he is aware of it. He probably feels unworthy of any praise let alone love in this situation which muddies his feelings in that moment.

There are a lot of other interpretations you can make from this scene and I don’t think any one will be 100% correct, all of my ideas could be right or wrong. I personally really like how ambiguous this moment is from Taegun’s point of view. He is really well written as a character with deep trauma learning to trust again. I hope the author takes him down a route of self love and acceptance in the future.

Oh, and also, the date kind of went to shit just now. He tried to live a childhood dream and in the end he felt nothing; the rides weren’t fun and Eunsung just ended up feeling ill. It’s kind of a microcosm of Taegun’s whole issue rn. He talks about his sad past as an orphan, he laments in his mind about his abusive ex and how he wished he could’ve experienced life before becoming an esper. Taegun who feels like he has only made mistakes just cannot understand why this person who appears to have his shit together likes him when he himself is a mess in his own head and in his personal life. Eunsung, on the other hand, found the silver lining and took them to the ferris wheel. He is with Taegun through the good and the bad, no judgement and no pity. If there isn’t good he’ll find some. It’s a nice way to interpret the scene despite the somewhat bitter ending to the chapter.
