Bruh MC's acting like that is so relatable. He's originally not that good as an athlete, failed numerous times and even got himself bad nicknames by people, and suddenly got invited to join national team since he's the only athlete left? Self confidence 404 not found is normal. Having sudden confidence would be weird.
It's totally normal for feeling worry all the time and thinking negative especially when his roommate is the no.1 in his country. He need those supports from great people.

He’s going off to the Olympics but he’s extremely childish in his mannerisms unfortunately. I found him to be annoying too as he feels like a stereotypical bottom even though he’s so accomplished. Not trying to be mean or anything since I’m going to keep reading because he’s not bad but he doesn’t feel different or new compared to other yaoi MCs sadly. I just feel like he’s not very realistic and overly pathetic. The art is pretty tho!
I thought the whole point is that he got in there by luck and not because of accomplishment, hence why he got mocked by everyone and has very low self esteem. I agree that he is stereotypical, but at least he has good reasons.

He wasn’t supposed to be on the team in the first place but, because of an accident, they put him in anyways.
The reason why people find him annoying is because he’s not very interesting and how bad he is despite being in the Olympics. I feel like it would’ve been better with him actually being competent but it’s fine as is I suppose. It’s just not anything new and seems to reuse the kind of “damsel in distress” dynamic with the talented top and the dependent bottom trope people get tired of seeing, you know?
