I think she means being "worthy" as in terms of acting skill, experience and maturity. She's still a very young woman. She's still green, and with no stylist, sense of style or the finances to focus anywhere else other than growing in terms of acting career.

Maybe it fits that she's not immediately changing who she is.
Since we've grown over the years waiting for the manga to progress (lol it's been well over a decade for me) I understand it feels frustrating to feel not much has changed in Kyoko. She's still finding her footing and the manga is still set way back unlike now in 2025.

I agree I read this like few years ago and lost interest bc it took long for new chapters so I let it get more but they didn't get that far from where I last left it off.

No my point is that too me, I'm not sure about Asian cultures, she is too underdressed like she is going to meet a ton famous actors/actresses and producers and she is in pink onesie. I know its her work uniform but they are in England(i think?)

Your neighbor looks like in her 20's to you by your standards of aging but to us she might look her age. Some just have a face that looks youthful, some don't, even for asians.

You're right, other Asian will only assume that if you're 30 but have babyface you look like 18 or early 20, not a middle schooler
But if they want to pretend that they still a middle schooler to people who never know them, I bet those people will never noticed

Also yeah Kyoko not dressing up like other women her age does feels like it's leaning towards the trope. I still think it's due to her not so normal upbringing. She wasn't raised with care from her mother, nor did she have other female relatives to learn from. Shou's parents did raise her with care but still, there must have been some reservations. Kyoko is not their child, they had a business to run, they did not have any daughters themselves, their style also seem more traditional.

And in the earlier chapters, it's shown that she doesn't know how to spend money on herself, she thinks all the pretty clothes are too fancy and "high class" for her, that she's not deserving to wear them. Again, she's a young woman who has a low self-worth and is just starting to build her sense of self.
She still has a long way to grow and it's taking a long ass time for us ヽ(´ー｀)ノ
Her way of escapisim through her delusions are one way of her masking her low sense of self-worth. But that's just me Clocking in and analysing her thought process.

Yeah maybe another 300 chapter for us to finally see her learn about her self worth
