After a quick Google search I found this one. Impundulu (Lightning Bird): From southern African folklore, this vampiric bird drains the life force of its victims through spiritual bonds or by causing mysterious illnesses and deaths. It is often associated with witchcraft and bad luck. Seems to fit the bill so far, if they're taking Birds from real myths

We understand that the MC is a phoenix. We know that’s where her powers come from. This makes sense with her being from the bird clan and the phoenix being a type of mythical bird. So my question becomes, what type of mythical bird can drain someone’s life energy? Wouldn’t the younger sister be “whatever type of mythical bird” is capable of that?
